2010 Arctic Winter Games Hockey - Yellowknife Regional Trials Update NEW: AWG Regional Trials - Dec. 16, 2009 Registration (ATHLETES WHO ARE SELECTED TO THEIR REGIONAL TEAM) All athletes, coaches and chaperones participating in the Jan. 28-31 Territorial Trials must be registered by JANUARY 8, 2010.   All athletes, coaches and chaperones participating in earlier dated Territorial Trials must be registered a minimum of two weeks prior to the start date.  Registration Fee:     $100.00 per participant – payable to Sport North.      Participant Handbook (pertains to Regional Trials, Territorial Trials and the Arctic Winter Games) (PDF format)                              Dates   The Territorial Trials will be held January 28 - 31, 2010.    In cases where the health and safety of athletes are involved, or for logistical reasons, Sport North will permit Territorial Sport Organizations to conduct their Trials at a date agreeable to all concerned parties The Sport North AWG handbook indicates that each region may send a maximum of 17 players to the Territorial trials.  Registration in the Yellowknife Region was slightly over this limit with respect to the Bantam and Midget divisions and under this limit with respect to the Female division.  Both Hockey NWT and Sport North have agreed that the Yellowknife Region may forego regional trials and have agreed that all registrants are eligible to participate in the Territorial trials.  We appreciate that members have been anxious about the uncertainty surrounding the regional trials. However, official confirmation from the above-noted organizations was received only today.  More information relating to the AWG will be distributed as it becomes available. AWG REGISTRATION FEES  The Association collected $25 dollars (in addition to Sport North fees) from each registrant to offset the anticipated costs associated with the regional trials. However, regional trials will not be required due to the relatively low number of registrants in each category. Players will be required to pay a fee of $100 to register for the territorial trials that will be held in January 2010.    Sport North has agreed that the $25 for regional trials may be used to partially offset the cost of registration for the territorial trials. Please note that ALL INDIVIDUALS registering for territorial trials MUST present their original receipt indicating that they paid $50 toward the regional trials. Without the receipt, Sport North will NOT recognize the $25 contribution toward the Territorial fee.  If individuals do not present their original receipt, they will be expected to pay the full $100 Territorial Fee. Original receipts MUST be presented or otherwise full payment is expected!  OUT OF TOWN PLAYERS  Registrants who are currently playing outside our Association must be registered with Hockey NWT to be eligible for the territorial trials.
